Western Michigan Comprehensive Treatment Center is an outpatient provider that provides individuals aged 18 and older with the care needed to successfully break free from the dangerous cycle of opioid addiction.

By utilizing a comprehensive treatment approach, Western Michigan Comprehensive Treatment Center offers treatment for both the physical and psychological comments of opioid addiction. The following medications are available for patients to incorporate into their customized plan of treatment:

Methadone:Methadone is a synthetic mediation that provides patients with relief from the physical symptoms of withdrawal and keeps cravings for additional opioid use at bay. Methadone is an opioid agonist that allows patients to play an active role in daily activities without experiencing cognitive impairments.

Subutex: Comprised of buprenorphine as its active ingredient, Subutex is a partial opioid agonist antagonist that works by eliminating withdrawal symptoms. Subutex blocks the effects of opioids within a patient’s brain and provides relief from craving additional opioids.

Suboxone: Consisting of a combination of naloxone and buprenorphine, Suboxone reduces the symptoms of withdrawal and decreases cravings for continued opioid use. Unlike other medications that are prescribed in treatment, patients will experience symptoms of withdrawal should they attempt to abuse opioids or other substances during the course of treatment.

The specific medication that is prescribed as well as the dosage that is administered will vary between patients based on their individual treatment requirements. Medications can be changed and adjusted throughout the course of treatment if necessary.

Western Michigan Comprehensive Treatment Center believes that in order for patients to achieve lasting recovery, treatment for the emotional component of their addictive behaviors must be received as well. The following therapeutic interventions are available for patients who elect to recover at our center:

  • Individual therapy sessions allow patients to work one-on-one with a highly qualified counselor in a safe environment. These sessions help patients pinpoint the psychological factors that may have contributed to their addiction in the first place. Individual therapy also allows patients to work through any issues that may arise throughout the course of treatment.
  • Group counseling sessions are led by one of our knowledgeable counselors and bring patients together with their peers in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. These sessions allow patients to work alongside other individuals who understand firsthand the struggles associated with addiction.

By working closely with our team of physicians, nurses, and counselors, patients are given the tools and support that are necessary to progress towards a life free from the dangers of opioid addiction. Our dedicated staff realizes the challenges associated with recovery and are here to assist you or someone you love every step of the way.
